Retreat Recap!

The Kitchen is the heart of my home -
especially when it's shared with my Tribe
The first 'At Home' retreat is on the books... and all feedback would suggest it was a great success!  I had a blast; but my love of sharing all things wellness, eating good food, laughing with friends, and spending time connecting with nature would make me a biased opinion ;)
What an amazing experience it is when you surround yourself with positive and supportive energy!  Twelve women discussing everything from how we keep our skin glowing, to our frustration with making burlap bows... there wasn't a negative comment to be heard, only support, praise and whole hearted 'ME TOO's' followed by knowing laughter!

Building beautiful fresh greenery baskets!
The ability to remove ourselves from the treadmill of our daily routines is a wonderful, and necessary experience!  I say necessary because everyone needs a break - a chance to get quiet, and check in with themselves!  It doesn't have to be a weeks vacation, and for that matter it doesn't have to be a full day like we shared Saturday - a 10 minute time out works wonders, costs nothing, and can actually happen every day instead of once or twice a year!

Stress and the holidays seem to go hand in hand; whether you are stressed financially, emotionally; or just pushed for time because of all the added commitments this time of year; the stress is real!  Not only real, but it has the potential to be a game changer for your health!  10 minutes of slow deep breathing isn't going to offer you the additional funds, or the extra time you may feel you need, but it just might offer you a few different ideas that will make things easier!

A simple shift in focus can change everything; except, when we are caught on the wheel those shifts aren't so simple!  Our mind is only capable of holding one thought at a time; when we are stressed and that one thought keeps rolling over us that screams 'not enough'; there is no space for the thought that offers an alternative!  In a 10 minute time out, shifting your focus from 'not enough', to the rhythm of your breath; the opportunity for new ways of thinking to emerge is presented!
Special thanks to my beautiful daughter
for spending her birthday helping me!

My goal in creating Saturdays retreat wasn't to magically absolve everyone of their stress; but rather provide an opportunity for a shift of focus; and to that end we were successful!  Phones were on silent and it was generally agreed upon that unless the emergency crews showed up at the door; any issues that might arise in our absence from the treadmill, would still be there when we were finished!

Hats off to the ladies who dared to share the day with me; gave themselves permission to get off the treadmill and connect with themselves; and each other for support, and inspiration!  We are all on our own Journey; this is true, but we are all on those journeys together!

Namaste
