Recalculating...

Life has a funny way of turning all the things you 'think' you should be doing into a tangled mess of mixed emotions, miscalculations and confusion, just before that moment of perfect sense.  Just when you think you have it figured out you're forced to recalculate!  This passed weekend my plans for an outdoor studio here At Home met with building codes that shut the plan down... sort of!

In those moments when you think that it was all for nothing, that nothing ever goes the way it's supposed to go; take a deep breath, and get curious about optional paths - because often in those recalculating routes, you discover you are now headed in exactly the right direction .  This whole situation for me started with wanting to get my aerial hammocks back into play in my schedule; I wanted a beam structure in the back yard that would support them... simple right?

Ideas started being tossed around about bigger, and better, and more; and I let myself think that all that 'more', was what I wanted.  In hindsight, I was justifying the pavilion as a place to 'put' my work, a place that was separate from my life, a place that gave my work an identity, and even though I was struggling through every conversation about where it was going to go, how much it was going to cost and how much work it would be to build... I wanted to believe I 'needed' that space to validate my business, so I didn't speak up.

How many times has the idea train took off out of the station with you hanging precariously off the side?  If I were to be honest I've hung off the side of a lot of trains in my life; I've learned a lot of valuable lessons clinging on for dear life; not the least of which is the importance of being clear on your end goals!  Some trains take you on amazing detours that enhance your path to the end goal; this one has definitely done just that for me!

My work here At Home is very fulfilling, I look forward to adding clients to the fold this summer in a truly 'outdoor' venue; and yes that might have us seeking shelter in my indoor studio from time to time, but what we are doing is far more important than where we do it!  A simple beam structure will bring the hammocks back into everyone's wellness journey; our deck offers a beautiful view that will enhance every yoga practice, and my side hustle of creating an online At Home wellness community is moving ahead full steam!

In the coming weeks in addition to continuing with my in person class schedule; I will be launching a brand new initiative that will operate from a private facebook community offering yoga and workout videos weekly, nutrition and meal planning tips, monthly challenges, blogs, podcasts and so much more!  The bonus ... it's all FREE!

The ability to build and maintain a workout/yoga/nutrition plan at home isn't easy on your own; but with a community to support you, anything is possible!  I know from scheduling classes with my own clients how difficult it can be to stay on top of 3 workouts a week... life happens, and of course we shouldn't beat ourselves up about it; but we also shouldn't have to wait for the next available class in studio!

'Namasta'y At Home' will give everyone the opportunity to pick and choose a workout, or yoga video to fill in the gaps!  It will offer real meal planning, and nutrition options that support more than weight loss; and we will dig deep into all the ways to stay on track, empower ourselves, and find joy in our lives by doing it on purpose, At Home!

This is a completely new medium for me; but one I am so excited to discover!

As I approach the half way mark of 2017, my year of Growth - I am two weekends away from my RYT200 training certifications, I have established an At Home clientele that keeps me motivated to do more, and I have found the next train leaving the station ... and I'm driving it; not hanging off the side!
Watch for all the details coming soon!
